Press Club to introduce Packers' new CEO to Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE, WI—February 8, 2008. The Milwaukee Press Club's next Newsmaker Luncheon will feature Mark Murphy, the new president and chief executive officer of the Green Bay Packers. Murphy took over the helm of the Packers on Jan. 28, succeeding Bob Harlan, who retired.
The luncheon will take place at Noon on Wednesday, February 27th, at the Joey Buona's, 500 N. Water Street, in downtown Milwaukee. The public is invited to attend.
Murphy, who holds a law degree and an M.B.A in finance, brings a unique and diverse background to his role as the leader of one of the NFL's flagship franchises.
He began his football career as Pro Bowl safety with the Washington Redskins.
Later, he served a combined 16 years as director of athletics at Colgate University and Northwestern University, in addition to holding positions as an assistant executive director of the NFL Players Association and as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice.
Murphy, 52, is a native of the Buffalo, N.Y., area. He and his wife, Laurie, recently moved to the Green Bay area. They have four children.
At the Newsmaker Luncheon, Murphy will be interviewed by a panel of professional journalists.
The Milwaukee Press Club's Newsmaker Luncheon Series is sponsored by Journal Communications and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Pre-registration for the Newsmaker Luncheon is required.
The Press Club presents the Newsmaker Luncheons monthly to shed light on issues of the day. The public is invited to attend the luncheons. The cost to attend is $20 for MPC members, $25 for non-members, $15 for students. Lunch is included.
