Newsmaker Luncheon to shine light on presidential race

MILWAUKEE, WI—March 7, 2008.  The political strategies that are driving the U.S. presidential campaign will be the focus of the Milwaukee Press Club's next Newsmaker Luncheon, which will take place Wednesday, March 19, at noon, at the Newsroom Pub, 137 E. Wells St., in downtown Milwaukee.

A panel of presidential political experts will be moderated by Jeff Mayers, president and editor of WisPolitics.com.  The panel will include:

* Mark Graul, who has worked in state and national politics for the Republican Party for more than 15 years. In 2004, Graul served as Wisconsin executive director for President George W. Bush's successful reelection campaign. He also directed the successful campaign for Supreme Court Justice Annette Ziegler and Mark Green's successful campaign for Congress in 1998.

* Mike Tate, who oversaw Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean's Wisconsin campaign in 2004. Tate is a political consultant who also has done work for Gov. Jim Doyle's campaign and the Fair Wisconsin campaign.

* Greg Borowski, political reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The panelists will discuss the political strategies that are being used by Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and Republican John McCain. They also will provide analysis about potential vice presidential nominees and a preview of the general election this fall.

The Milwaukee Press Club's Newsmaker Luncheon Series is sponsored by Journal Communications and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
