The Milwaukee Press Club will host its annual Gridiron Awards Dinner on May 7th at the Italian Community Center. This event recognizes the Press Club Foundation's Annual Excellence in Wisconsin Journalism award winners, as well as its coveted Sacred Cat and Headliner Awards. Most importantly, proceeds from this event help to ensure the quality of Southeastern Wisconsin's journalistic community for years to come through college scholarships, mentoring, professional development and industry advocacy.

Sacred Cat award winner, Bill Kurtis, is a documentary host and producer, network and major market news anchor, multimedia production company president, author, and grass-fed cattle rancher. Kurtis served as an anchor of CBS Morning News as well as WBBM-TV in Chicago where he currently anchors. He produced the Peabody Award winning series The New Explorers, which aired on PBS, among other documentary series. He is the author of The Death Penalty on Trial: Crisis in American Justice.

This year's Headliner Awards will be presented to Sue Dragisic and Martin Kaiser. Headliner Awards are bestowed annually to people who are in the news and are making a positive difference in Milwaukee. For more information on the Gridiron Awards Dinner click here.

There are three ways to get involved with the Gridiron Awards event and support the Milwaukee Press Club's mission:

• Become a Sponsor - To show your support for the honorees and the Press Club's more than 250 professional members, there are three event sponsor levels, each offering different benefits. Sponsors will enjoy exposure at this well-attended event, as well as seats at the event.
• Advertise in Once a Year - For those interested in celebrating the honorees, the annual Once a Year magazine will be published to recognize these award winners and support the Club. For more than 112 years, this magazine has provided an important record for the club and has been mailed to Club members and community leaders as a keepsake.
• Host a Table - $750 - Tables include tickets for 8 and excellent recognition at the event.
