Journal Sentinel editor will be press club's next president

MILWAUKEE, WI—January 14, 2007  Marilyn Krause, senior editor/administration for The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, has been named the president-elect of the Milwaukee Press Club.

A veteran reporter and editor, Krause is responsible for the business side of the Journal Sentinel newsroom, including budgeting; working with training, recruiting and hiring; liaison and negotiator with the Newspaper Guild; liaison for professional conferences and community events; and coordinating the newsroom's internship program.


She joined The Milwaukee Journal as a reporter in 1987 and later became an editor. Prior to taking her current position, she was an assistant metro editor for the Journal Sentinel, supervising the Health/Family team. She also had prior reporting positions at area weekly newspapers.

Krause, 54, is chairman of the Journal Communications Women's Leadership Network and a member of Tempo, a women's business networking group, where she serves on the program committee. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.


She and her husband, Larry, live in the Town of Delafield. They have three adult daughters and three grandsons.


Krause will succeed Jon Anne Willow as president of the Press Club later this year. Willow is the editor-in-chief and co-publisher of Vital Source magazine.  Steve Jagler, executive editor of Small Business Times, is immediate past president of the Press Club.
