Dear MPC Members and Friends,

Each year, the Milwaukee Press Club recognizes the service and commitment of individuals whose distinguished journalism careers have impacted our community. This year’s Milwaukee Media Hall of Fame Dinner will be held Oct. 17, at Potawatomi Bingo Casino in the Northern Lights Theater.

The following professionals will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2008:

Living                                                                         Deceased

Clayborn Benson, WTMJ-TV                                   Bruce Gill, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Whitney Gould, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel             James Pluta, WITI-TV

Paul Joseph, WTMJ-TV                                            Ray Taylor, Milwaukee Labor Press

Jim McLoone, Lake Country Publications                Lynise Weeks, WTMJ-TV

Paul Salsini, Milwaukee Journal

For the first time last year, Milwaukee Press Club members were asked to make Leadership Gifts in honor of the Hall of Fame inductees.  Your generous response led to $3,425 that went directly to the MPC Endowment Ltd.  This year, we are hoping you will again consider a Leadership Gift of $100.  Your support helps us to uphold and recognize the underlying values of the Club such as editorial craftsmanship, integrity and trust.

Leadership gifts directly benefit the MPC Endowment Ltd, the charitable arm of the Press Club. In addition to supporting the Press Club’s programs to promote excellence in journalism, the Endowment awards scholarships to aspiring journalism students – an effort we hope to expand and grow. Leadership Gifts can recognize another journalist – either one of this year’s Hall of Fame inductees or any other journalist or mentor who influenced your career. Leadership givers (and any person they name for recognition) will be listed in this year’s Hall of Fame Dinner program as well as in an upcoming Cat Tales article. Leadership Gifts sponsors whose reply is received by Wednesday, Sept. 3, will also be listed in the invitation. All gifts to the MPC Endowment, a 501(c)(3) organization, are tax deductible.

Please help us to support the Milwaukee Press Club and this important event with your Leadership Gift by following this link to the donor form at www.milwaukeepressclub.org/files/2008-leadership-gift-form.pdf.  Return the completed form by Wednesday, Sept. 3. (Gifts will be accepted after this date, but the donors will not be listed on our invitation.) For more information, contact Joette Richards at (262) 894-2224 or milwaukeepresssclub@gmail.com.  We hope you will join us for this special event in October.
